Grimston Wesleyan Methodist Chapel was built in 1839/40. In 1851 the chapel provided 20 free and 24 other sittings. By 1860 the original building and subsequent extensions and alterations had cost £110. In 1873 and thereafter the chapel provided seating for about 100 persons.
The chapel was situated on the north side of the road to Saxelbye at the point where it turns sharply southeastwards (grid ref 685219). It seems to have been demolished to make way for the new chapel built in 1892.

Josiah Gill, in The History of Wesleyan Methodism in Melton Mowbray and the vicinity (1909) states (p158) that the first chapel was built in 1833. He also includes a photograph which possibly shows the two chapels together. The 25 inch Ordnance Survey map of 1884 would support this conclusion.
