Houghton on the Hill has had a Wesleyan Methodist chapel since 1830.

This building is dated 1852,  and the previous year Henry Lacey, the Steward, had reported an afternoon congregation of 41, with 84 attending in the evening.  The new chapel was said to have seated 120 in 1873, reducing to 100 in 1940. There was a School hall included in the premises.

The building is still in use by a Methodist congregation
