Melton Mowbray Circuit: attendance figures from 1907

Census of attendance in the Melton Mowbray Circuit, October 6th, 1907

Whereas the current Methodist Church counts its congregations for a month each October, figures from the high-water mark of Methodism are not so common. These figures were collected on Sunday October 6th, 1907 and published two years later by Josiah Gill in his account of the Circuit.

As can be seen, the Circuit covered a large area in three counties.

P.S.A. is the abbreviation for the Pleasant Sunday Afternoon, a meeting for those who wished to spend the day of rest in wholesome activities: more of a social meeting than a service
