Before Twyford Wesleyan Methodist Chapel was opened in March 1846 the local Wesleyans met in a hired room. The land for the chapel cost £54.4.0d building itself, which measured 28 feet by 20 feet, £270.10.0d. By 1860 the original building and subsequent extensions and alterations had cost £350. In 1851 the chapel provided 60 free and 75 other sittings, 135 in all. This figure had dropped to 123 by 1873. It had jumped to 170 by 1891, perhaps indicating a building extension or the insertion of a gallery. By 1911 the number had fallen to 150, all free. In 1940 the measurements for the chapel were given as 28½ feet by 24 feet and there was a gallery at the end. The floor of the chapel seated 95 in pews and the gallery 36 on forms, 131 in total. There was also a schoolroom measuring about 37 feet by 14 feet but no other rooms.
The chapel was situated on the south side of h the lane leading north westward past the parish church (Grid ref SK101728)
