Raymond Ella has tracked down records relating to Rillington Wesleyan Methodist chapel.

The Ordnance Survey, 25 inch scale map of Yorkshire, sheet 125, surveyed in 1888 and  published in 1891, shows the Wesleyan Chapel on Low Moorgate, known then as Railway Street. YO17 8JW.  

In the North Yorkshire Record Office (ref. R/M/ML 2/13/1) Malton Methodist Circuit Records, 1892-2002 include Rillington Wesleyan Methodist Chapel records (ref. R/M/ML 2/13/8, sale July 2002).

In 2021 you could have bought the chapel for £250.000

Sue Goodwill, the Archivist for Ryedale Methodist Circuit, North Yorkshire which relates to the old Malton, Pickering, Helmsley and Kirkbymoorside circuits, has  a record which  states a Chapel licence was applied for in 1803 and another in 1834, the latter with the surname Longfield. The 1803 date ties in with the Wesleyan Chapel records. In the circuit book Longfield is mentioned in 1845.
