The small village of Garsdale had both Primitive and Wesleyan Methodist chapels. You wonder where enough people came from to sustain one society let alone two. The Prim chapel was opened in 1841.
The Cumbria County History Trust says the Wesleyan chapel was opened in 1830 or 1831 and was still in use. It was at Low Smithy.
