Cayton Wesleyan Methodist chapel

The former Cayton Wesleyan Methodist chapel and current (2022) chip shop
Cayton Wesleyan Methodist chapels

Although Keith Guyler labelled the photograph on this page as Cayton Primitive Methodist Chapel, thanks to Pat Donnor for pointing out that it is really a photo of Cayton Wesleyan Chapel which was built in 1821.  The Wesleyan chapel is located  on Main Street; the Primitive Methodist Chapel was on Chapel Lane, built in 1822. The Prim chapel no longer exists.

This Wesleyan chapel is the only case I know of where the chapel became a fish and chip shop after closure (recommended on Trip Advisor), although it is also a hairdressers.  Previously it was a blacksmiths.

The chapel was replaced later by a second chapel  further West on Main Street.
