The chapel is on high ground above the village built sideways on to Crichel Lane in 1890. There is a burial ground behind the chapel. When the photos were taken in March 2022  it was on the market and the trustees had applied for permission to convert it to residential use. The details are in the site notice attached. This was not the first Wesleyan chapel in Witchampton as the following extract from the 1851 Religious census shows.

Place of worship: Wesleyan Chapel. Parish or place: Witchampton. Date erected, consecrated or licensed: 1811. Religious denomination: Wesleyan Methodist. Informant: John Fletcher, Minister. Estimated attendance on Sunday 30 March 1851: morning [not stated], afternoon 87, evening 77.

Dorset History Centre has Trustees Minutes and Accounts from 1826 to 1969 under ref NM10/S18.

The memorials in the burial ground have been transcribed and are available at http://www.opcdorset.org/WitchamptonFiles/Witchampton.htm
