Studland

Studland Wesleyan chapel Summer 2022

The second of eight chapels on our tour of the Isle of Purbeck in the summer of 2022. A local historian told me that the chapel was built in the 1890s with bricks from Studland Brickworks at Wadmore. Wadmore Lane runs west from Ferry Road to the north of the village and leads to Wadmore Farm.

This document in the Dorset History Centre is from 1897 and probably relates to the purchase of the chapel site.

Interestingly the name stone says Wesleyan Church not Chapel.

The chapel is now a yoga centre but I do not know when it closed for worship.
