Herston

This was the fourth chapel in our tour of the Isle of Purbeck. It is currently used by Girlguiding Swanage. Dorset History Centre has Trust Accounts from 1922-1936 for Herston Wesleyan Methodist Church Swanage under reference NM8/S1 and in the 1940 list of buildings it is recorded as Wesleyan. The date stone for 1861 says it was Wesleyan. However MyPrimitiveMethodists has another story and currently no record has come to light of transfer of allegiance!!
