This chapel in Poole Road, Bournemouth, which seated over 400, was built in 1887. It is probably not unique in now being a Tesco Express store, though it is certainly unusual. Poole Road is Westbourne’s main shopping street and continues west from the chapel; at the far end was a Congregational chapel of similar age and proportion, demolished toward the end of the 20th century to accommodate a new road layout and other building. The Baptist chapel opposite the Wesleyan was built a few years earlier and seated over 500; it is still home to a Baptist congregation.
Dorset History Centre has records up to 2003 under reference NM-1/S/14
