Hamworthy, Dorset

The following is taken from the website https://www.aboutmyarea.co.uk/ ‘A small Wesleyan Chapel was constructed close to Carters Avenue during the second half of the nineteenth century.  This was replaced, at the end of the twentieth century, by a more stylish, larger structure .  Sadly, both the original building and the new church were demolished, in 2006, to make way for a housing development.’

Dorset History Centre has records under reference NM-3/S6 and under NM-3/C/2 there are records re a proposal for a united Methodist / Anglican church on nearby Turlin Moor estate. The church on Turlin Moor in 2023 is St Gabriels – part of Hamworthy Parish.

You can find Keith Guyler’s 1988 photo of the chapel here
