The old wooden chapel in High Street was leased from the Farquharson family – the Lords of the Manor. It is now owned privately and is a garden building. I have not been able to meet the owner to get further details. This was replaced in 1936 by a brick built chapel further north by the ford. This building closed in 1967 and is now a home.
Dorset History Centre has records from 1893 to 1969 under reference NM-10/S/14 although some papers appear to contain information on earlier activities in the village.
This link contains interesting information about unsuccessful attempts by the Primitive Methodists to establish work in the village in 1836.
