Rev Edward Guest 1824-1864

Edward Guest was one of three brothers who became Ministers.
They all started out at Moor Street Primitive Methodist chapel in Brierley Hill, Staffordshire.
They came from generations of Methodists on both sides of their family.
Their Father, Isaac Guest, nurtured all his children to know God.

Edward was born Jan-May 1824 in Kingswinford. His father died prematurely when he was 11, so Edward’s Grandfather, John Guest, took over the physical and Spiritual welfare of Edward and his siblings. Edward became a Wesleyan Minister in 1850. His first posting was to Wales.

In 1851 he was at Trevethin, Monmouthshire, Wales.
In 1857 he was at Hemel Hempstead.
It was while he was posted to London that he met Theodosia Manning and they
married on 13 July 1857 at St Stephens, Walrook, London.
In 1861 they were at Wharf Street, Sowerby, Yorkshire
Edward died prematurely like his father, aged 40… which I suspect was a genetic condition. He died 9 May 1864 at Hornsea, Yorkshire and was buried 11 May 1864
