Ticknall Wesleyan Methodist chapel

Methodism reached Ticknall at the end of the eighteenth century, and the first chapel was built in 1792 on what is now Chapel Lane. Within a generation the congregation had outgrown the building and the current chapel was erected on the other side of the road in 1815

The new chapel could accommodate 400 in 1873, reducing to 310 in 1940 and 200 in 1970. It is still home to an active congregation.

More photographs and a full history of the chapel by Cedric Fowkes may be found here

The chapel is a Grade II listed building, See here for the description
