Marsh Lane is west of Eckington in North East Derbyshire.

The chapel carries the datestone of 1886 and it  first appears on Ordnance Survey maps between 1876/86 and 1898. The initial footprint shows the longer side of the building parallel to the road. By the 1916/23 maps, the building is larger with the longer side at right angles to the road, as now.

There are a number of sets of initials carved into stones on the front wall:

CT; SW; C; FG; MC; AH; ET; HH.

The former Wesleyan chapel had closed by the first time I visited the village in 1971 and in 2021 it is used as a playgroup and social centre.

The village also boasted a Free United Methodist chapel on Lightwood Road.
