Bible awarded for Sunday School attendance, East Stour, Dorset 1905

This Bible turned up in a second-hand bookshop in Cornwall many years ago.

The inscription reads;

Presented to

Lily Gray

for regular attendance

at the

Wesleyan Methodist

Sunday School

East Stour

1905

Elsewhere it says

East Stour, Gillingham, Dorset 1901

Someone has added ‘age 11’ and also 1906-1907in pencil.

There is a Lily Gray on the 1901 census age 6, born and living in East Stour, so seems to fit the bill. She is part of the large family of Robert Gray (a ‘well-sinker’) and Ann E Gray (nee Ann Mead).

The owner would love to pass it on to any member of Lily’s family.
