Death of Rev. Ernest Rhodes, notice from The Methodist Recorder, April 13th 1939

The following notice was published on p6 of the Methodist Recorder on 13 April 1939:

DEATH OF REV. ERNEST RHODES

We regret to announce the death, at the age of seventy-one, of the Rev. Ernest Rhodes. After training at Headingley College, Leeds, he entered the ministry of the Wesleyan Church in 1890. He travelled in the following circuits: Devonport, Helston, Kirkby Stephen (two terms), Settle, Kirkoswald, Cardiff (Roath Road), Rotherham, Manchester (Grosvenor Street), Hull (Coltman Street), Alderley Edge, After one year’s service at Penrith he became a supernumerary there in 1926. A born preacher, he attracted large congregations. He also faithfully exercised a pastoral ministry, being a welcome and frequent visitor to the homes of his people.
