Rev William Richard Rogers 1838 to 1841

A Missionary on St. Christopher's and Nevis

The Minutes of Conference 1838 show that William Richard had travelled for two years in the Foreign Mission Field and that he was to be stationed on St. Christopher’s under Reverend Jonathan Cadman with Reverend William Rigglesworth and John Horsford and together the four men cared for 2,660 members.

For 1839, William Richard was to continue on St. Christopher’s, still under Reverend Jonathan Cadman who was joined by Reverend James Cox and another preacher on trial Benjamin Tregaskis. This team served 2,716 members. The Minutes of Conference recorded that William Richard had now travelled for three years in the Foreign Mission Field.

1840 was a milestone year for William Richard because the Minutes of Conference record that he had been”admitted into full Connexion with Conference” in the “In our Foreign Missions” section. Reverend William Richard Rogers was to continue to minister on St. Christopher’s for another year but now Reverend James Cox was the Superintendent Minister and also Chairman of the Antigua District with George Croft and John Horsford to assist. The number of members continued to rise and was now 2,919.
