Bowness on Solway Home Mission Chapel was built in 1872 by William Topping of Bowness. He established a trust to own the building in accordance with terms laid down by himself. The trust was renewed around 1950 after which the chapel became more closely integrated into the usual Methodist structures. In 1980 the chapel had 50 sittings and there were two other rooms. The chapel was closed between 1980 and 1991. The chapel building and the adjacent cottage are now used as B&B and self catering accommodation
