Chapel was built 1836 at a cost of £1100, Brampton Gelt Road Chapel was built 1836 at a cost of £1100, he foundation stone having been laid in June. The external dimensions were 48 feet by 40 feet with galleries at the end and both sides. When opened it seated 600 people. In 1851 the capacity was said to be 200 free and 300 rented seats. It was soon found to be too large for the congregation and around 1862 a floor was inserted at gallery level. Thereafter the upper floor was used as a chapel and the lower as a Sunday school. There were 200 sittings in 1873. The building became redundant as replacement facilities became available at Main Street Chapel, c1900 – 1902 and permission for the sale of the property for £400 was given in 1900-1.
