FULLER, William Hunt 1874 - 1949

Obituary from the Minutes of the Methodist Conference 1950, page 125

Born at Blackhill, co. Durham, in 1874. He was educated at Kingswood School. His whole desire was to serve his Lord, and after training at Handsworth College, he served with distinction, as an evangelical preacher, an ardent pastor, a wise administrator, and a resourceful leader.

When in Guernsey he was elected Chairman of the District. After terms in Hull and East Wight, ill-health compelled his retirement.

He settled in Leamington Spa, where on the rare occasions he conducted Divine worship, his pulpit ministrations were greatly appreciated.

Ten years ago, even this joy was denied him. His ministry became one of intercession and encouragement.

All who visited him during his long illness came away renewed as a result of contact with such a gracious, cultured, and courageous spirit.

He delighted to talk about the things that matter most, and maintained his ardent interest in the progress of God’s kingdom.

Even when the clouds gathered and complete helplessness overcame him, he still saw himself as one who carried the ‘victorious cross’.

He passed to his reward on 12th September 1949, in the seventy-sixth year of his life and the fifty-second of his ministry.
