School Certificate

My great grandmother was Margaret Hudson.The only information I have about her schooldays is a certificate, dated November 13th and 14th 1883, when she was 12 and a pupil in the Sixth Grade of one of Middlesbrough’s Wesleyan Schools. This may be Margaret’s leaving certificate, as a required standard had to be reached before pupils were allowed to leave. Pupils could stay at school until 13, but leave at 10 if they had passed Standard V.
