MORROW, Arnold Wilton 1878 - 1962

Born in Bridgwater in 1878. He was a son of the manse, and both his parents were missionaries in South Africa. After being educated at Kingswood, he trained at Handsworth College, but was called out in his second year, in 1907, to Army work in Hyderabad District, India.

After two years he was invalided home. He served in Dover. and then returned to Army work in the Surrey and Hants Mission, and Aldershot.

He took natural pride that he was the first Free Church Chaplain in France, where he landed on 9 August. 1914.

He was mentioned in despatches in 1915, for devotion to duty. After serving throughout the First World War, he was Assistant Principal Chaplain, Northern Command.

He then returned to cucuit work in Stockton, Blandford, Ventnor. Wimborne, Richmond (Yorkshire), Loftus, Stokesley, and Poole, where he retired in 1949.

He then gave valuable service as active supernumerary at Broadstone, Poole.

He was a man of good humour and cheerfulness. He had a brotherly spirit and loved the service of Christ.

He died on 26 June 1962, in his eighty-fifth year and the fifty-fifth year of his ministry.
