Hethersgill Chapel was built of stone and provided seating for 135. It cost of £1100 and opened in 1900. The site had been provided by an unnamed donor and the building cost £629.12.0. The date plaque reads “Wesleyan Methodist Church built 1901”. Permission for the construction of a school here at a cost of £105 was granted in 1902. In 1911 a piece of land between the school and the chapel on which a cottage occupied by the chapel caretaker and a reading room stood was purchased. The cottage was sold in 1938 and the remaining land in 1945. The proceeds were used to install a heating apparatus. In 1940 the chapel had 140 sittings, all on forms, and there was a schoolroom and one additional room. The schoolroom was sold for £300 in 1969/70 and by 1980 the chapel was closed and awaiting disposal. It subsequently became an art gallery and is now in residential use…
