DINSDALE, James William 1880 - 1961

Born at Gayle, near Hawes in Wensleydale, in 1880. After the early death of father he settled with his widowed mother in Nelson, Lancashire, where he began work in a cotton mill.

He was accepted for the Wesleyan Ministry in 1906, and after one year as pre-collegiate in the Leeds Mission, he was trained at Handsworth College.

The next seven years were spent as a missionary in the West Indies and succeeding circuits were at Sheffield, Hull Mission, Rochdale Mission, Sunderland Mission, Bolton, Gateshead, Leeds and Falmouth.

He retired in 1946 and went to live in Morecambe.

He rendered faithful and conscientious service and led many to know Jesus Christ as their Saviour.

He had a bright spirit and an eager enthusiam for evangelistic work.

His preaching and strong personality appealed to men of every type.

He delighted to proclaim the message of full redemption. In him everything was subordinated to the great passion of his life, which was to preach the Gospel and the saving Grace of Jesus Christ.

He was a man whom to know was to love.

He died on 19 December 1961, at the age of eighty-one and in the fifity-fifth year of his ministry.
