Bentley, Cooke Street Wesleyan Methodist chapel
Keith Guyler
Keith Guyler’s exceptional collection of pictures of chapels which were formerly Primitive Methodist includes one labelled Cooke Street, Bentley. Thanks to Howard Richter for pointing out that this was in fact a Wesleyan chapel and giving further information.
“The building pictured was a Wesleyan chapel from the time of its building in 1818 until a new WM chapel was built nearby in 1892, and was marked as such on OS maps of those days. After the Wesleyans moved out to their new larger chapel, the building became (I am told) a joinery workshop until demolition in 2006.”
